I started painting in black and white as a reaction to my colorblindness and continue to do so because the color palette seems to fit the overarching themes of my work. I remove subjects from their natural context and place them on a separate muted plane in an effort to derive meaning from objects distilled into ideas and metaphors. In this way, the conceptual structure of my work takes inspiration from platonic idealism. Utilizing this framework, I am interested in examining (or investigating, or scrutinizing, or analyzing, or dissecting, or…) interactions between humans and other animals, not only in a direct sense but also dealing with animal’s appropriation of human infrastructure, entropy and its effect on man-made objects and nature, and other stuff too.
